The Expert Team will support EC-PHORS and other entities in developing a White Paper on cryosphere-related services. This paper will address adaptation and mitigation in polar and high-mountain regions, considering their downstream impacts on coastal areas and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It will cover disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate and public services, hydrology and water resources management, agriculture and food security, transportation, energy, and other areas to inform priorities for action across WMO bodies.

• The key activities that ET-CCD participates in include the following:
• The Expert Team will identify user needs for information on the changing cryosphere and provide services for inland cryosphere components like snow, ice, and permafrost.
• They will support activities from the global stocktake of cryosphere research-to-operation opportunities, document emerging user needs, and develop proposals for pilot projects.
• The team will also support the International Year of Glacier’s Preservation 2025, ensure linkages between research activities, and integrate cryosphere-related hazards into the catalogue of hazardous events.
• Additionally, they will contribute to relevant chapters in reports on global water resources and climate.
